The Island of Mauritius welcomes Alitalia with a direct flight next October…

A contrast of a multitude of colors and flavors, the island of Mauritius is an oasis of peace and tranquility. A melting pot of cultures and cuisines, a place where past and present blend harmoniously, the island hosts a number of different unique landscapes, including tea plantations and sugar cane fields.

With 35 thousand Italian arrivals in 2017, up 5.2% on the previous year, Mauritius has returned to establish itself among the most popular long-haul destinations among those purchased in travel agencies, data confirmed by the tourism island in Italy. Among the main novelties is the direct flight from Rome Fiumicino, which returns after many years of absence with the Alitalia livery, promising new goals in terms of visitors from Italy. The connection will be operated by a three-class Airbus A330 starting from October 28 three times a week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), starting at 22.15 and arriving at 10.35 the following day; the return is scheduled every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 12.25 with arrival in Rome at 20.20.

Also for the historic Air Mauritiusflag carrier 2018 marks the beginning of a new chapter for travel to the destination that on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, strengthens its positioning in the Indian Ocean, with the acquisition of the new Airbus A350-900, a new generation aircraft with Full Flat seats in Business Class, a more spacious and comfortable Economy Class cabin, a new in-flight entertainment system with Full HD screens and Wifi in all flight classes.

The aircraft is equipped with a series of special features including a quieter cabin, innovative LED lighting options and a sophisticated ventilation system that contribute to improving the flight experience. The introduction of the A350-900 “Le Morne Brabant” represents a significant step for Air Mauritius and the start of a new chapter for travel to the destination.

Since last 30 October 2017, flights announced in partnership with KLM are also operating, offering travelers new connections via Amsterdam, expanding their connections to the island.

The island of smiles is even closer … On the hotel front, our partner The Residence Mauritius offers an exciting journey to “the essence and the senses”, a 3-day package called “Essence & Senses”. To celebrate the great treasures of the country, The Residence Mauritius has created a travel experience that combines the essence of the Spa and the exploratory senses to honor both tea and sugar. The first day begins with a visit to the famous Bois Cheri tea factory and museum, followed by a tasting and lunch at the restaurant inside the reserve. As a tradition, the day ends with an invigorating green tea couple massage, a wonderful relaxing and detoxifying experience wrapped in the scent of homemade green tea. The second day explores the riches of L’Aventure du Sucre, which allows guests to deepen the culture of sugar in the local museum before a tasting of sugar and rum followed by lunch at Le Fangourin. And to end the sweet beauty, the second day ends with a body scrub made from sugar, honey, almonds and Ylang-Ylang essential oil. The grand final transports guests on a journey to discover the Indian Ocean on a glass bottom boat, including snorkeling, restoring baths in crystal clear waters and sunbathing. After the morning spent outdoors, the afternoon ends with one of The Residence’s ritual treatments; a 120-minute extravaganza that begins with a coconut milk scrub followed by a relaxing massage to end with a sauna and a hammam scrub.

The Residence Mauritius also offers guests oriented to psycho-physical wellbeing, the opportunity to participate every Thursday at the ‘Healthy Program’, which begins with a workout that involves the whole body followed by meditation, a detox day that includes a substantial lunch and healthy, as well as a 75-minute relaxing massage with Ayurvedic oils. The day ends with an evening stroll on the beach followed by sunset yoga.

Once the sun has set, the day of indulgence at The Plantation continues, with the night of the lobsters every Monday on the beach where everything is made memorable with a lobster dinner on the beach. Dining under the stars, with the sound of the waves in the background, the divine feeling of the sand between the feet – can only seal a magical night and finish the day in a perfect way.
